25. Debunking Popular Gut Health Recommendations: Fiber, FODMAPs, Prebiotics & Probiotics

If you go to Google and search for how to best support your gut, you will come across some common recommendations: eat a ton of vegetables, eat lots of fiber, take a probiotic, take a prebiotic! 

If you struggle with IBS, or have been diagnosed with SIBO, then you'll likely hear to eat a low-FODMAP diet. 

Let me break these suggestions down and debunk them - because they aren't all true for everybody!

As mentioned in the episode, here is the list of hearty probiotic species that withstand stomach acid:

Saccharomyces boulardii, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, Bifidobacterium animalis, Bacillus coagulans, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus acidophilus
