The Trust Your Gut Approach

I know how frustrating it is to be doing all the right things for your gut-brain health, yet you still are stuck in the cycle of symptoms.

It likely makes you feel that you just need to control more and “do better.”

Often, there are deep, rooted issues that are keeping the system in imbalance. This is why no matter what you try to do, the relief isn’t long-lasting, symptoms return, or others return in their place. We usually approach health by taking care of the symptoms on a physical level. This is certainly a very important component to address, but it misses all the other complex pieces of a human. It misses the whole person – the connection between physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

There is a lot of amazing information out there, but it may not be what we actually need. In the search for answers, we continue to take in more information, content, and research instead of learning how to listen to our own body and intuition and use that as our guide in our healing. Everybody has this innate resource and health in their system. We just must learn how to listen to the body.

The body will guide you to ultimate healing.

The gut-brain connection and nervous system are the foundation of our health and well-being. When you focus on nourishing these systems, along with nutrition to support your microbiome, then you have the most powerful healing approach.

The Framework

Nervous System Regulation

This is where we access the deep root causes of your chronic symptoms. Traumatic events, prolonged stress, and unprocessed emotions can cause the nervous system to become over-activated. If this isn’t addressed and rebalanced, it will continue to cause symptoms, like the ones you experience in your digestive and mental health. Mental, physical, and emotional health is directly related to the health of the nervous system, so to heal from any of these symptoms, we must heal the nervous system.

This may include:

  • Somatic Experiencing®  for trauma healing
  • Somatic awareness practices
  • Somatic parts work
  • Emotional release work
  • Increasing vagal tone
  • Intergenerational trauma awareness
  • A variety of tools to support self-regulation and building resiliency

Nutritional Therapy

Nutrition and lifestyle are extremely important factors in healing our gut-brain imbalances. However, this is where many of us can get stuck and focus all our energy. We utilize nutritional therapy to support and nourish your microbiome and bring balance to your body while we do the deeper work with the nervous system.

The 5 pillars of nutrition we focus on are: sleep, movement, hydration, connection, and diet.

This may include:

  • A comprehensive health assessment
  • Nutritional support
  • Microbiome balancing
  • Lifestyle support
  • Adrenal nourishment
  • Specific digestive healing protocols
  • Stool testing
  • Supplemental support

My Training

In addition to a lifetime of lived experience and embodied wisdom in this field of work, my approach blends my foundation as a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner with my current training as a Somatic Experiencing® practitioner.

This is where gut healing and nutritional therapy meets nervous system regulation and healing chronic and traumatic stress.

  • Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP) – Nutritional Therapy Association (NTA)

  • Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (currently in advanced year of training) – Somatic Experiencing International

  • Integrative Somatic Parts Work Level 3 Certified - The Embody Lab

  • Reiki Level 1 – Yugesh Reiki and Yoga Center, India

  • BA in Body, Earth & the Arts - designed a concentration focused on the human-nature relationship, mind-body connection, somatics, and creative expression.

What is Somatic Experiencing®?

"Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented therapeutic model for healing trauma and other stress disorders. It is based on a multidisciplinary intersection of physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics and has been clinically applied for more than four decades. It is the life’s work of Dr. Peter A. Levine.

The SE approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma. It offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states.

The Somatic Experiencing approach facilitates the completion of self-protective motor responses and the release of thwarted survival energy bound in the body, thus addressing the root cause of trauma symptoms. This is approached by gently guiding clients to develop increasing tolerance for difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions."

AS PETER LEVINE SAYS,

“Nobody can do it for you, but you can’t do it alone. We need that other resourced person.”

We are the ones in charge of our own healing, but we need others to hold space, co-regulate, and help us uncover those areas we do not see. We need to be seen, heard, and witnessed in our process.

I am here to help you do just that.
